About the event

"Cinema is a measure of what's in the frame and what's out"

The world of Literature and Cinema are closely related, enriching and inspiring each other, thus ennobling the human mind through both action and inaction, words, sounds and the replication of life itself.

On the birth centenary of the legendary Indian film-maker, Satyajit Ray, Wordcraft- the Ramjas Literary Society is delighted to welcome you to a session with Abhija Ghosh on the topic 'Cinema and Literature'.

Abhija Ghosh is a researcher at the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru Uniersity and currently working on her dissertation Romantic Rhapsodies. She was also a visiting scholar at NYU and an alumnus of Ramjas College, University of Delhi. She is also a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright- Nehru Scholarship.

The topic for this session is a direct consequence of the speaker's love and passion- Literature and Cinema. Having completed her Masters in English Literature and her current work on The Circuits through which nineties Hindi films travelled to parts of America through digital and celluloid networks of access, the session will encompass various spheres of both domains, their correlation, persistence and afterlife in the cinematic public sphere.
